Title Choices
We researched and studied other film trailers to look at the structure and effects of the titles. After watching many different types of horror trailers we picked out individual things we liked about each set if titles to incorporate in to our own. Some titles stood out more than others.
The titles from 'Annabelle' (2014) were some that we as a group really liked. The effect used for the titles to appear on the screen were what we thought suited the genre very well. They gave a eerie ghostly effect as each word appeared on the screen, which worked in sync with the motion background it was shown on, of what looked like to be ruined vintage wallpaper. The story of 'Annabelle' (2014) consists of the curse of a doll (inferred from what we are shown in the trailer), so the old vintage looking wallpaper completely reflects the main storyline. As we are creating a film involving possession this is something we took into consideration when choosing what motion background we'd like our titles to appear on, although we weren't involving the possession of a doll. The vintage wallpaper in 'Annabelle' (2014) also reflected the childish feel from the use of the doll as a girly patter was used, so we tok the thought of vintage into consideration, excluding the pattern but introducing . Also with the main title of a film 'ANNABELLE' was presented the same background but with a completely different effect, this is also something we had to take into consideration, so that our title in our trailer loked individual, obvious and rememberable. The titles for 'Ouija' (2014) also give an eerie dreary effect and are similar to 'Annabelle' (2014) in this sense. We liked the plain use of background, and as with other trailers, the background for the main title is different to the others, making it stand out to the viewers and capture their attention so that it is obvious to them this is the title of the film. We want the audience to remember this trailer and want to see it, by doing that we know that we need to make the film title obvious and eye catching. T.D
