Above we made a video on how we chose to edit a portion of our trailer. While building and planning our trailer we kept some objectives in mind to insure our trailer was of a good quality. For example we wanted to have a good pace in the trailer, ensuring a professional trailer with a good build up. We also wanted our own soundtrack, to converse with the shots and enhance them. We also had the idea of editing the lighting and colour in the clips, we did this when we didn't think the shot was good enough after filming.
We choose to have an increasing clip speed in our trailer, the opening of our trailer was Samara with her friends and they were the longer shots from the trailer. Towards the end of the trailer we had quick shots in succession of the male lead being lifted up into the air by Samara, this creates a good pace to the trailer. A good pace in the trailer is essential to creating a professional and realistic trailer as for the audience it builds up suspense up intill the final scare.
We also chose to build up our music on our timeline using diegetic sounds from when we were filming the clip and soundtracks that we found and then used in the trailer. We did this rather than downloading and stealing another soundtrack from a trailer, this is due to giving it more of a unique soundtrack and is easier to fit around the shots that we used in the trailer.
We also used colour correction when appropriate, there was times after filming where we thought we had good shots but when we moved them onto the timeline they didn't look like how we wanted them to. We commonly used this on shots which included Samara in clip, this would make the shots look more scary and add to the character of the trailer.
