Film Magazine Covers
There are four different types of film magazine covers, which can all create a different effect by targeting audiences in different ways. These include; actor, character, action shots and staged action shots.
Actor
This type of film magazine cover is where the image is the main actor that features in the film. In the image, they appear dressed as themselves, looking as they would in reality, despite the fact that the in film mentioned they are playing a character. This can be effective, as it may draw in the attention of people who are particularly interested in the actor, rather than the film or the character.
Character
On the front cover is a image of the actor in character. On the entertainment magazine the picture is of the mask killer scream who is a key character in the film. Empire shows the joker from the film "The Dark Knight". The magazines to often use characters which have big parts in the film but every now and then a character who is irrelevant to the story can be used. for example on fangoria the Lady in the black wedding dress is used on the cover. this could be because she has an effect on the audience from her dark and mysterious form.
Action Shot
This is normal a screen shot of an action scene from the movie, by having an action shot it allows you to get a small glimpse of what is in the film it allows your mind to wonder, for example on the first magazine cover the man and women re running, it leaves us to question what are they running from or what are they running to? The second magazine shows the man holding the women as if he is protecting her which again this picture leaves us questioning what is she being protected from? and the last one is the character who looks like he is riding in to battle.
Staged Action Shot
staged action shots make the actors hold a pose as the character they are playing in the film Angelina Jolie is a spy in the film "salt" her positioning on this magazine cover is a typical spy pose as she looks ready for action and if she is looking at her next target.

Something that is different about this magazine is that when they interview actors and actresses they ask them silly and unusual questions just to make things entertaining and more interesting. They also do a spine quote on each issue which is a quote printed down the spine of the magazine, the quote usually links to the main story in that issue and if you can spot the links between the quote and the story you are able to win a prize, which keeps the readers reading as an opportunity to win something never gets missed.
